U16w: Two victories in two days… flying to the top

In Bezirk, News, U16 by Kwam Walton

Productive weekend for the little ladies of coaches Chiara&Carmen, who took home four very important points that keep open the possibility to win the BOL season!!!

On Friday 20.04 the girls of MÜNCHEN BASKET met München Ost for an exciting point-to-point game.

We did not enter strongly in the match, letting the opponent decide the rhythm of the game… we went to the pause with a -3 on the score… but we came back in the court with 100% motivation and focus that lead up to the final victory (66:58).  A very good team-play was the key to the victory that mathematically secured the winners’ podium for us.

But the weekend was only started…On Sunday 22.04 we travelled to Freising to get another two points ☺

The game was more difficult than expected.. perhaps we were tired or perhaps we underestimated our opponents, which instead played a very good game from the beginning.

The girls of Coach Chiara and Coach Carmen were really nervous and the baskets of the gym in Freising did not help: all our shots and layups were somehow refusing to go in…

After a disastrous second quarter, we went to the locker rooms with a -5 (27:22). But WE ARE A TEAM. In difficult moments we group up and show that we can play basketball.

The second half we dominated the game and despite the constant bad luck with shooting, we managed to take home a very important victory (53:58).

MVP of the weekend: Marina with a total of 22 points, a lot of rebound and a great performance in defense and in offence.

Top scorer Captain Esther  with 33 points in total and great 3points in crucial moments of the game.

A big BRAVO to the team-work. Now… we must be ready for the closing game of the season which is also the most important one, against the direct competitor for the first place Rott Am Inn.

A big THANKS to all the best parents and fans that a coach can hope to have. And what is the best way to celebrate with this amazing whether if not a bier/coke at Biergarten?
